I received my masters in counseling psychology with an emphasis in somatics from John F. Kennedy University. My first experience as a counselor was as a volunteer peer counselor at a free clinic where I learned the importance of empathy, non-judgment, and unconditional positive regard. These principles are the heart of my work. I am strongly influenced by attachment theory, Hakomi therapy, and somatic approaches to trauma. I am also inspired by yoga, being a parent, and the beauty and intelligence of the natural world.
I love being a therapist. I do the work for many reasons, mainly because it feels good and sustains me. I understand therapy as a mutual process, and am constantly changed and inspired by my work with clients.
