Slow down by 1% and say hello to what is there. Hello, potential client! My name is Leah (she/her-ish), and I’m a mindfulness-based somatic therapist in Oakland, California. I see clients online and in person. With warmth, curiosity, humor, and play, I help my clients be with their “inside experiences.” We find amazing inner resources, patterns from the past, and parts that, although altruistic, can get in the way (hello inner critic! Hello people pleaser!). Bringing light and awareness to experience allows things to shift, integrate, and unfold. I hold a foundational belief that each person knows best how to find their way through, and that it’s healthy to seek support. I find awe and delight in getting to be that support.
As a therapist I am in turn a reflector, a connector, a translator, a guide and a witness. Some sessions with me look like deep meditations. Others, I will be singing you made-up songs and hoping that you will join me. It is likely that you will laugh, and I will hopefully help you cry. I will remember the most random things about you, and you, I hope will experience me as a warm, authentic human creature.
I work with individuals, couples, and adult family members (siblings, parents and adult children, etc.). I am queer and enjoy supporting the queer community. I work well with people experiencing anxiety and/or depression, navigating transitions, or looking for more stability and satisfaction in relationships. I am a parent and work well with parents, including single and single-by-choice parents, those with blended families, and parents with gender expansive or trans kids. Although I am not a specialist, I love working with neurodivergent folks, especially as I continue to understand my own mind and way of being.
I love the work of therapy and bring myself to it fully. I am inspired by attachment theory, and grateful for my understanding of the nervous system. I can become soap-box passionate about self-care. Learn more about me and what inspires my work.
Please contact me for an initial phone conversation and to set up an appointment. My office is in the Oakland Hills, and I also offer sessions in nature. Learn more about contacting me, and about fees.
